Handling system for small load carriers
In the area of intralogistics, small load carriers (SLCs) are frequently used in accordance with the VDA standard. The challenge for one customer was to delicately grip these different SLC types made of cardboard, plastic or polystyrene foam while monitoring the transport and maintaining the required cycle time.
Zimmer Group's standard solution for the Outbound subarea enabled a wide variety of SLCs made of cardboard, plastic or polystyrene foam to be palletized. A corresponding sensor technology detected the current product format and monitored the secure position during transport. By connecting servo-electric and pneumatic drives, it was possible to achieve minimum cycle times and workpiece-specific gripping forces. A workpiece protection system that combines position protection and maintenance of force prevented the loss of workpieces even in the event of an emergency shutdown.
