Visit to the Zimmer Group in Rheinau
Theresia Denzer-Urschel, Chairwoman of the Management Board of the Offenburg Employment Agency, team leader Katja Ast, and contact person Simon Fischer from the Employer Service visited the company on Monday, June 30, 2025, to learn about the company, its training activities, and current challenges in the labor market.
The discussions focused on securing skilled workers, training paths, and current developments in the region. The aim of the visit was to talk to employers in person so that the employment agency could offer them tailored support from its wide range of services.
The guests were welcomed by Managing Director Jonas Zimmer, Head of Strategic HR Management Silvana Retsch, and Team Leader for Recruitment Maria Maurath. After a company presentation, the visitors had the opportunity to take a tour of both sites and gain a comprehensive impression of the company and its diverse product range. The agency head was particularly impressed by the high training rate: around 70 trainees are currently being trained in various areas – a strong sign of the company's future viability. The newly established training workshop for the industrial electronics sector left a lasting impression on the guests. The topic of recruiting international skilled workers was also discussed – an area in which the Employment Agency provides long-term support to companies and which is also important for the Zimmer Group, which already has a strong international focus.
Since its foundation 45 years ago, the Zimmer Group has developed considerably – in terms of turnover, number of employees, and size of its locations. A major milestone was the internationalization of the company, which opened up new markets and strengthened its long-term competitiveness.
Both the presentation and the tour clearly demonstrated how strongly the entrepreneurial spirit and technological expertise of the employees shape the family-run company – as does the clear focus on securing skilled workers from within the company's own ranks. The visit also underscored the importance of direct dialogue between business and employment services – and how much potential there is in the future-oriented training companies in the Ortenau region.
