Retiring after almost 40 years
Ettore Romito bids farewell to the Zimmer Group
On Thursday, September 25, 2025, Ettore Romito was officially bid farewell by Zimmer Group in a special celebration. This marks the end of an extraordinary career that has shaped the company and many of his colleagues over 39 years and 5 months.
Ettore Romito joined the company on April 16, 1986 – at that time as a CNC milling machine operator on a Mikron machine. With great dedication and technical expertise, he quickly advanced and took on responsibility as assembly manager, repeatedly demonstrating flexibility, commitment, and creativity - especially in the successful leadership of a large team that ultimately grew to over 100 employees. His colleagues valued him as a reliable employee who stepped in wherever quick solutions were needed.
But Ettore Romito was not only a fixture in his professional life. In his speech, Martin Zimmer, founder of Zimmer Group, praised Ettore Romito's many years of outstanding service: "You have been part of our community for almost 40 years – a formative designer, a reliable partner in difficult moments, and a colleague with whom there was never a shortage of camaraderie. You have influenced generations of employees and played a decisive role in the development of our company. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts."
Among those attending the farewell ceremony were Günther and Martin Zimmer (founders and managing directors), Jonas Zimmer (management), Michael Basler (commercial director), Klaus Seifried (process and production development), Mario Wölfle (Project Manager and Technical Sales), Dieter Langenecker (Head of Assembly and Logistics, Salmenkopf Plant), Michael Maxheimer (Plant Manager, Salmenkopf Plant), Andre Dziersk (Team Leader, OEM Assembly), Michael Hoch (Head of Quality Management), Rafaela Zitterbart (Production Controlling), Silvana Retsch (Head of Strategic HR Management), Harald Isenmann (works council), Michael Hemler (Head of R&D Linear/Damping Technology), and Jörg Baumann (Head of Sales).
Zimmer Group wishes him above all health, happiness, and many fulfilling years in the future - and is already looking forward to seeing him again at summer parties, Christmas celebrations, or simply for a coffee.
