Zimmer Group becomes a member of OHLF e.V.
Zimmer Group is a new member of Open Hybrid Lab Factory e.V.. By joining the renowned research campus for sustainable mobility and innovative production technologies in Wolfsburg, the automation specialist from Rheinau is strengthening its commitment to the transformation of the German automotive industry.
As a KNOW-HOW FACTORY, Zimmer Group has stood for practical inventiveness, technological excellence, and a high level of innovation for more than four decades. The “inventor gene” embedded in the company's DNA has been driving the development of intelligent automation solutions for decades – from versatile components to smart system solutions for Industry 4.0.
With an extensive technology portfolio - including high-precision handling, vacuum robot, damping, machine, clamping, and braking technology, components for industrial communication, system technology, and process engineering - Zimmer Group serves a wide range of industries worldwide. The company sets standards particularly in electromobility, for example with innovative and standardized gripping systems for battery production, the autonomous mobile robot Miles, and the flexible robot cell ZiMo.
As a new member of the OHLF research campus, Zimmer Group contributes its comprehensive expertise to interdisciplinary research activities with the aim of bringing sustainable technologies into industrial application more quickly. The topics range from resource-efficient lightweight construction and digital production processes to recycling management and CO₂ reduction along the entire value chain.
The Open Hybrid LabFactory e.V. was founded in 2012 and is a public-private partnership between industry, science, and the public sector. With partners such as Volkswagen AG, the Technical University of Braunschweig, the Fraunhofer Society, and the DLR, the highest level of expertise is pooled under one roof - the OHLF research campus of the same name. Here, cooperative research takes place every day at the interface between basic development and series production.
Zimmer Group's membership marks an important step in the right direction: it sends a clear signal of the close cooperation between industry and research in order to jointly provide sustainable impetus for the mobility of tomorrow – technologically sound, practical, and future-oriented.
