Gripper for fuel tank
Clamping and braking elements | System solutions | Mechanical and plant engineering | Industrial robots
        Challenge

When welding attachment parts (tank nozzles, etc.) to fuel tanks, the tanks need to be inserted into various processing stations. The grippers or machining tools need to be able to be changed flexibly for each particular process.
        Solution

For this special application, the Zimmer Group developed a flexible double gripper. The adaptation to different tank variants is made by replacing contour pieces on the gripper fingers. The gripper position is protected using clamps from Zimmer Group. The machining units are replaced in a fully automated process using a tool changer.
