Inside Sales Manager

Zimmer-Group is one of the worldwide leading manufacturers and distributors of automation components and system solutions for Handling technology, Damping technology, Linear technology, Process technology, Machine Tooling technology and System technology. We are looking for an Inside Sales Manager for our Hickory, NC offices to further develop our business in the automation industry and support our outside sales team, call on existing customers, distributors and prospects as well as develop new relationships throughout the United States.

At least three years of experience in sales for industrial products is required. The ability to travel occasionally is desired.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Developing relationships on established customers, distributors and prospects from the automation industry, especially with end-of-arm equipment and linear rail applications
  • Source new sales opportunities through inbound lead follow-up and outbound cold calls and emails
  • Research accounts, identify key players and generate interest
  • Maintain and expand our database of customers and prospects
  • Develop the specific territory and markets for new as well as existing products
  • Aggressively grow Sales across the assigned region
  • Coordinating order progress between customers and technical sales engineers/distributors and assisting with closing the sale
  • Provide market intelligence guidance and feedback
  • Work closely with Director of Sales to achieve set forecast and sales objectives


  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in sales for industrial products, focus on assembly and automation
  • Strong phone presence and experience dialing dozens of calls per day
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Track record of accountability and achievement of sales objectives
  • Preparation of account development plans and meeting reports
  • Strong interpersonal and consultative skills to support distributors
  • Self-motivated, highly organized individual
  • Experience using Word, Excel, ERP and CRM software
  • Ability to travel occasionally
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent
