Challenge
In the production of semi-truck components, a 120 kg, 1,200°C component (rigid axle) needed to be removed from a forging press.
Solution
A synchronized servo gripper with a self-locking mechanism was developed as the solution. The jaw material was resistant to high temperatures and the gripper fingers featured integrated water cooling.
